Oatmeal Cookies

I decided to make some yummy oatmeal cookies today. I found this recipe on Yummly.

Oatmeal Cookies
Such a yummy treat!

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 14 Tbs unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats (I have no idea what that means. I just used quick oats which worked fine.)
  • sea salt (I did not top with salt.)
    • Preheat oven to 350F. Line baking sheet(s) with parchment paper and position oven rack to middle position. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl. In a separate bowl mix together butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla after well mixed. Then, mix flour mixture together with sugar mixture. Finally, add oats and mix until well incorporated. Divide dough into balls about 2 Tbs in size. Place dough on the prepared cookie sheet(s). Gently press ball to 3/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle the tops with a few flakes of sea salt. Bake 1 sheet at a time until cookies are deep golden brown for approximately 13-16 minutes. Repeat until all the dough is gone and enjoy!
    • (I kind of shortened down these instructions quite a bit.)

I had 2 really cute helpers.
They didn't help much though.
They don't really like the hand mixer.
I love to bake on the weekends!

Things I've Learned
  • Sometimes recipes can be too detailed or maybe I am just getting better at baking.
  • These cookies are pretty good for being a crispy cookie. I normally prefer my cookies super moist.
