Well, we got a new
bread maker, so the last 2 days have been me playing with recipes with that.
Traditional White Bread
Traditional White Bread 2 lb. Loaf Recipe
- 1 & 3/8 cups water
- 2 tablespoons softened butter or margarine
- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons dry milk
- 1 & 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 & 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- Measure and add liquid ingredients to the bread pan. Measure and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to the bread pan. Use your finger to form a well (hole) in the flour where you will pour the yeast. Yeast must NEVER come into contact with a liquid when you are adding ingredients. Measure the yeast and carefully pour into the well. Snap the baking pan into the breadmaker and close the lid. Press the "Menu Select" button to choose the Basic setting. Press the "Loaf Size" button to choose 1 lb., 1.5 lb., or 2 lb. Press the "Crust Color" button to choose light, medium, dark, or rapid crust. Press the "Start/Stop" button.

Things I've Learned
- Am I just doomed to make bread that is caved in on the top? I don't understand why!?!?!?!
- I used bread maker yeast for the first recipe and active dry yeast for the second recipe.
